Krishnasamy College of Education for Women (KCEdn.) was established in the academic year 2005-2006 to serve the society by educating teachers at the secondary level and preparing professional teacher educators. The college offered D.T.Ed., and one year B.Ed., programmes in 2005.This College is recognized by NCTEandaffiliated to Pondicherry University. In the year 2012,theCollege received UGC 2(f) Status andaccredited by NAAC with ‘B’ Grade in the same year.
For the M.Ed. programme, the college got recognition from NCTE in the year 2010 but due to various technical reasons,the M.Ed., program was not started and got the cancellation oftherecognition order from NCTE. D.T.Ed. programme was discontinued in the year 2012. As per new NCTE regulation December 2014, the two year B.Ed., Program was offered from 2015-16 onwards.
The college was ready by way of placing 5 years AQARs in the college website and getting the acknowledgement from the NAAC to proceed in the process of applying for NAAC Reaccreditation second cycle in the academic year 2018-19. But the NAAC issued a notification to discontinue the accreditation of Teacher Education Institutions as theNCTEintroduced TeachR Accreditation & Ranking process in the year 2018.The college has applied with the required fee for NCTE - TeachR Accreditation & Ranking processin the year 2018 and was waiting for the visit till 2022. But now the NCTE issued a notification of stopping of the TeachRprocess and going to refund the fee. At present, the college is ready with the completion of online registration with NAAC, online submission of AQARs for 2016-17,2017-18,2018-19,2019-20 and 2020-21 and online verification by the NAAC in 2022 and planning tocomplete the reaccreditation in 2022-23.
Now the college is functioning as a composite institution as expected by the NCTE by way of offering2yearB.Ed.,and 4 year Integrated B.Sc.B.Ed., programmes and with due recognitions received from NCTE and affiliated to Pondicherry University.
Moreover, at present the college is in the process of developing as a multidisciplinary institution based on the NEP2020 requirements. This College is one of the best Colleges of Teacher Education in the Union Territory of Puducherry. All the Staff members are fully qualified either with Ph.D., or NET. Most of the faculty members have completed ten to fifteen years of experience in this institution.The college is specially meant for Women in order to empower women in society. As per NCTE & Pondicherry UniversityRegulation, the TwoYear Bachelor Education (B.Ed.,) program is offered in the collegefrom 2015-16 onwards and Four Year Integrated B.Sc., B.Ed., program from 2020-2021. The Two Year Bachelor Education (B.Ed.,) programincludes six departments namely Tamil, English, Mathematics, Physical Science, Bio-science and Social Science. The Four Year Integrated B.Sc., B.Ed., program is a double degree programmewith B.Sc. Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with integrated B.Ed

The college regularly organizes Governing Council meet, Graduation day, Alumni Association meet, the national level projects such as NCW, National SeminarsandCampus Interview for the prosperous development of the students.
The college has adopted a good and dynamic variety of methodology and meticulous time-table. The time table has been planned for as per the Pondicherry University Regulations. The periodic time-table enriches the teaching-learning process in faithful manner. Especially the course has inclusion of orientation, internship, teaching practice and so on. As part of the curriculum, the school internshipprogramme, field visit days, month of exams and other important days are pre-determined and listed in the college calendar.
1. The College adopts dynamic methodology in teaching learning process. It provides pre and short study materials (synopsis) to the students for the entire course. The synopsis helps the students to mentally prepare for the class. 2. No single teacher handles one complete course. At least two faculties handle a single subject. This is a prominent way to teach as a team. 3. Peer teaching practice is followed in and out of the classroom which enriches the learning process. 4.The remedial teaching is regularly followed with the help of remedial teaching committee. The staff members very often use interactive white-board and computers to teach. The healthy academic discussion allows the faculty members to improve the content knowledge and methodology.
The different fields of visit focus on the professional career development is organized in the form of school internship, school observation , visiting innovative ,educational resource and community resource centres, community living camp etc., in a systematic manner. As already stated, the special training program, soft skill programs and “Enhancing Professional Capacities” courses are conducted.
Apart from theseprogrammes, literary competitions, sports meet and cultural programmes are conducted in the college, which are generating the positive, creative and social attitudes among the student teachers who are in turn going to inspire the school students during the teaching profession.
All the faculty members are using technology for teaching with new digital application such as Prezi, slides and interactive videos. Peer tutoring, remedial teaching and collaborative works are practiced for academic development. Similarly, various special programmesare arranged for professional development of faculty members.
Every year pedagogical subject-wise representative election is conducted in a democratic basis. The representatives in turn democratically elect the chairman, the secretary and the treasurer. They act as ambassadors between student- teachers andfaculty members.Every day, a systematic morning assembly is conducted which gives the flag hosting practices and gives inspiration through ‘thought for the day’, ‘about gender champion’, ‘announcement’ and ‘special greetings and wishes’ to the student-teachers. The co-operative society is established and maintained by the student-teachers themselves. Many programmes and training are given to the student-teachers such as art and craft practices, screen printing, file making, postal cover making and so on. The prepared articles and printed files are distributed to other educational institutions for free of cost. To develop the aesthetic sense, the Home and School Gardeningpractices are given to the students every year. Apart from the curricular activities, the college organizes the extension activities, conduct the National level projects and national level seminars every year.
The college has large spacious campus with 8.5 acre. There are two blocks namely Block-A & Block-B which consists of more than 25 classrooms, 7 curricularlaboratories, 1 seminar hall, 1 Multipurpose hall with 300 seating capacity, 1 Integrated Resource Center with 1 smart-board and 100 seating capacity. The college is monitored through CCTV. 2. A Xerox machine, scanner, printer and Uninterrupted Power Supply system are also available. There are more than 30 computers and wi-fi enabled classrooms. Interactive white board and LCD projectors are providing opportunities to the student to develop their ICT skills. The college has a website “kcedn.org” maintained and updated regularly and a “bulk SMS” facility for announcements for both the student-teachers and the faculty members. 3. The 200-meter track & field, playground and sports materialsare available. Additionally, the intercom facility is available to connect the main rooms. The college has library with reading hall which has a collection of 8434 books, 300 reference books, 24 journals and 5 periodicals are also added. 4. Rainwater harvesting, solid waste management systems are constructed and maintained regularly in the college campus. Free transport facility is offered for both teachers and students.
The college has good records of students’ academic achievements from2005-2006.
Every year students pass out with good percentage marks in B.Ed., programmeand immediacy employed in the schools. 20% of the students passed TET /CTET exam.
Every year the students participate in theinter-collegiate sports and intramural sports& games conducted in the Pondicherry University and get various prizes.
The college motivates the students to participate in various cultural and other competitions in state level.
Nationwide Competition to Create Awareness about the Legal Rights of Women” sponsored by National Commission for Women, New Delhi was completed in 2017 and received a grantof Rs.28,500/- andin 2020 the college conducted a Legal Awareness Workshop on 4th March 2020 funded by National Commission for Women, New Delhiand received a grantof Rs.90,000/-. To create awareness on AIDS and TB to the younger generation, Red Ribbon Club has funded Rs.4000/-.In this regard, a rally was organized in the month of April 2022 to create awareness about AIDS and TB in the neighborhood villages.
TheGovernment of Puducherry sanctioned a fundof Rs.4500/-, through Department of Science and Technology, Puducherryto start eco-clubin the College.Following activities were organized with all social responsibilities to protect theearth through various environmental programs with the support of thestudent-teachers, faculty members and public
The college conducts soft skill program, TET coaching,special training related to the professionand career development programs for the students every year. Moreover, different schools are invited to conduct the campus interview and to select the students. The sister institutions of the college, namely Krishnasamy Memorial Matric. Higher Secondary School, Cuddalore, Krishnasamy Matric School of Excellence, Kumarapuram and KrishnaswamyVidyanikethan,Kumarapuram conduct campus interview every year and almost 60% of the studentsare selected and placed in respective schools. 20% of them are employed in other private institutions and other 20% go for higher studies.
National Seminar and Journal Publication: Organization of National Seminar on various current topics is a regular phenomenon in the college. The National Seminar brings collaboration with other institutions, knowledge transaction, critical analysis about the topics, discussion, student-teachers participation, presentation skills, moderation by resource persons and sharing of experiences. The experts’judgment and publication of output are also other benefits, the faculty and student-teachers receive from the college.
This year due to COVID 19, we managed to conductonlyone online national workshop on “Creation of interactive e-book”.

Celebration of all National and Religious festival: The religious festivals are organized by concerned student-teachers belonging to particular religion and speak on the significance and importance of such functions and exchange greetings among all the students to promote secularism, develop feeling of oneness and also to respect all religions.
Peer tutoring and Remedial Teaching: An innovative method of peer tutoring and remedial teaching is practiced in the college. Based on the diagnostic test, student teachers are classified into different groups. Every day after 4 pmpeer tutoring is organized. During such periods, the peer groups meet formally and informally and discuss the topic being covered during the week and clarify the doubts.
TET Coaching:To help students crack TET exams, TET coaching has been included in the regular time table -- two days in a week for duration of 2 hours a day.
Annual Sports Meet: The annual sports meet is conducted every year and student-teachers participate in various indoor and outdoor games and track and field events. Finally, individual championship rolling shield is given to the student-teacher. The annual sports competition for this year was conducted from 4th May 2022.
Literary and Cultural Activities:Literary and cultural activities are conducted regularly in the college(Elocution, Essay Writing, Poem Writing, Solo & Group Dance, Music, Drama, Mono-act, etc.). In the annual competitions most of the students participate and gets number of prizes and certificates. Individual championship rolling shield is given to the student-teacher who has done well in all the fields.
Annual Day: Annual Day was organized on 20th May 2022. Prize winners of literary, cultural and sports activities were honored on this day. Individual championship rolling shield was given to the deserving student-teacher.
Co-operative Society: o inculcate the habit of self-help for mutual benefit, non- profit making attitude and service mindedness among the student teachers, a co-operative store is established and managed by the women student teachers. All faculty members and student teachers contributed Rs.10/- as one time share capital. The consumer products are sold at reasonable rates. Every year annual dividend is given to the members. Pedagogical subject wise managing committee members are elected and in turn they maintain accounts, purchase, sales and stock.
Extension Activity:The College with full-fledged qualified faculty membersalongwith long academic service and Ph. D qualification conducts the extension activities like in-service programme to school teachers on CCE, classroom management, constructivism, guidance and counselling, emotional and stress management, child right education, mental health, etc.
The college has regularly follows the rules and regulations of different Government bodies such as NCTE, UGC, MHRD, DHTE, College Development Council and Directorate of School Education. All the Educational circulars from the Government are strictly followed. To mention a few, AzadikaAmrut, University Social Responsibility etc are followed rigorously.
To commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence, Government of Indiathrough series of events underAzadikaAmrutMahotsav (AKAM)hasplanned for the celebrations.

The college is very seriously undertaking the Pondicherry University’s Social Responsibility program by adopting villages and involving local leaders and reporting to the university.
As per the Pondicherry University direction, the college identified nearby villages Varkalodai, Kanniakoil, Manapattu and Kattukuppamandadopted them for social activity under USR.Under USR program, the college conducted USR- community living camp from 7thto 11thApril 2022 in the adopted village areas:Varkalodai, Kanniakovil, ,Manapattu and Kattukuppam.A variety of activities were carried out in the adopted villages like rally to create awareness on road safety, blood donation, AIDS and TB, rain water conservation, cleaning the temple premises and environment, special lectures on Disaster Management, Women Safety, Women Health, Safety measures during Pandemic, Road Safety & Awareness and Women Health and Nutrition.
An online workshop was organized in the college on 15th June titled "CREATION OF INTERACTIVE E-BOOK"
During pandemic times, it’s a herculean task for the teachers to keep their students interactive and avoid boredom in the online classroom. This pandemic has also slowed down the growth of individual’s economy where the students can’t afford a book on his own to face the examination. In order to overcome the classroom challenges, the teacher should abreast with the latest technology in the field of education to keep the students more interactive and supply the resource material. The above hurdles can be met out with the simple and powerful idea “E-book” where knowledge sharing is made easy with the help of technology.There were 128 registered and more than 100 participants participated in the online workshop. The workshop director Mr. K. Anand Assistant Professor of the college welcomed all the participants and resource persons. The Resource Person Dr. S. Veena, Assistant Professor, Annamalai University through her effective demonstration gave training on “Creation of Interactive E-Book”. She highlighted the importance of creation of E-book followed by a step by step demonstration on ‘How to create the E-Book’. Also, encouraged the participants to create the E-Book. She answered and clarified to the participant’s doubts and questions. Positive feedback was given by the participants at the end of the session. It was very useful for all the participants. The resources persons and other eminences discussed the usefulness of the applications and thanked for the successful program after her demonstration.
